RWBY Fantasy 2 ~ Chapter 17

Chapter 17: A Controversial Ending?

With the Vytal Festival currently in the semi-finals, it begins with
the long awaited fight between yang and mercury. before the fight begin it seems
he has a scheme up his sleeves.

The Rest of Team RWBY,Noct and the others watches from the crowd
as the fight begins.

Insomnia, The Crown City Arena, 11:29 AM

The Crowd of the arena was cheering in excitement as both yang and mercury was going at it
trading blow to blow, kick to punch as it seem both of them was evenly a match.

Mercury goes in for a kick as yang blocks it with her open hand as a shockwave could be heard when the two collided.

The two pushes each other away as yang begins shooting from her gauntlets, mercury quickly dodges the incoming attack as it hit the concrete ground on the stage, he then ran towards yang as he jumps overhead with a kick.

Yang quickly blocks the incoming attack from above with her gauntlets as she pushes him away,mercury lands back on his feet as flash kick's yang directly under her jaw sending her flying back but manages to land back on her feet.



Meanwhile in the seats above

"This kid is really something!, i expected yang to have a upper hand here" Prompto says as he digs into his container of popcorn and eats more.

"Yeah, with all that training she was given this fight should have been over by now." Noctis looks over to prompto and notice iris was reading something. "what are you reading there iris?"

Ignis looks along to his side towards iris as well. "Oh, this was one of those catalog's that you will learn about that competitors..i'm just looking at the info on the team mercury is on"

"well see anything interesting?.." ignis asks politely, "Well one of the members named...Emerald Sustrai her ability revolves around hallucinations?"

"Hallucinations huh?.." Noctis says out of curiosity. "mhmm..it says the ability to modify the sensory information in a person's head while their brain is processing it. iris leans over showing it to both noctis and ignis before she shows it to prompto.

"Jeez..that sounds nuts, hate to be that person." prompto leans over looking at the catalog before turning back towards the action.

"Hmm..." noctis turns towards ignis as he noticed he felt uneasy. "something up ignis?.."

"No, after hearing that ability it reminded me of that scuffle you had on the train years ago...remember?" ignis turns towards noctis as he slowly begins to think back.

Noct flashes back years ago to when he accidentally knocked prompto off the train, but realizes it was just ardyn's hallucination



"I still regret doing that...with that kind of ability messing with people's head we should be on the look out ignis" the two nodded towards one another as they look back towards the fight.

Mercury starts shooting his foot out in every direction, as each kick into the air accompanied by a silvery blast that directly aimed towards yang.

She dodges a few incoming towards her way and get's in close through the circling barrage of shots, as she and mercury continues to exchange fist to kicks in the middle of the circling shots.

Mercury kicks her into the air and knocks her right back to the ground, followed by dozens of the shots mercury shot from his boots come spiraling down converge right on to yang.

Team RWBY and the rest of the crowd goes in shocked, as mercury get's up and grins thinking he has won as he dust himself off. "Looks like i wo-" suddenly the smoke behind him erupts into flames he turns around in shocked but changes back into a smile seeing a enraged yang.

"It's time to finish this!!" Yang dashes forward screaming as she lands a punch sending mercury back, and she rushes up avoiding each kick. she lands a hard hitting punch to the stomach as mercury left stun as yang pulls back her fist leaving mercury as collapse onto the ground.

Yang looks down panting heavily as she begin to calm down. "serves you right..hehe"

The Crowd roars as the winner has been decided. "Woooo!! that was awesome!!" prompto jumps from his seat as popcorn fell out of his container. "Incredible!" iris stood up from her seat and claps.

Meanwhile Outside of the Arena

"Yang Xiao Lon Wins!" Dr.Oobleck says over the mic as the entire arena hears. Gladio grins as he turns around looking towards the main screen. "Would you look at that.."

cor looks up along side gladio. "Those two put up a good fight, that mercury kid is something."

"hmm..."

Back in the Arena

"You did it Sis!" Ruby waves her arms in excitement.

"Way to Go, Yang!" Blake and Weiss both wave as well.

Yang pants heavily as she begins to take her leave, suddenly. "There's not going to be a next time, Blondie!"

Yang turns around just in time to see mercury leap forward with a kick to his unsuspecting victim, yang quickly acts as she brings her gauntlets down and shoots his leg before he hits her.

"M-My Leg, My LEG!!" Mercury grasping his injured body part rocking back and forth.

The Entire arena looks on surprise,horror and angry towards yang, as it cut a view towards the people watching in insomnia and in vale.

"That's what you get, you little- Huh?..what jus-" She was suddenly surrounded by crowns guard solders and altesian knight droids. "Yang Xiao Long, stand down!"

Yang looks over to mercury nervous and confused of what's going on. Ruby,Weiss and Blake looks towards one another terrified of what just happened.

"Mercury!" Emerald rushes over to her partner's side, comforting him. "Why'd she do that?!, WHY'D SHE ATTACK ME!?"

Yang receives a disgusted scowl from emerald, only looking up at the screens above her to see the footage of what just transpired.

"Yang Xiao Long..i demand you to stay down...NOW!" one of the crowns guard soldiers says, yang stood down in a bit of fear but suddenly.

"That's enough!" Suddenly yang,mercury,emerald and the rest looks up as a sword comes crashing down in the middle of all of this as noctis along with ignis warps into the scene. "Y-you're majesty..."

"Stand down..i'll take care of this." Noctis gains authority of the situation as the crowns guard stood down.

"Now.." noctis looks over to yang and slowly approaches her. "N-noctis i-i can explain!...i-" noctis lightly puts his hand on her head. "calm down, now tell us what happened..."

Gladio and Cor stood outside in shocked of the situation and see's noctis has entered into the scene. "What is Noct doing there?!.." gladio angrily grips his fist of what just happened.

Cor looks over to him seeing that he is hurt of what yang just did. "Gladio you go see what's going on, i'll keep things in check out here."

gladio taking no chances as he dashes into the arena no questions asked to see the situation up close.

"Y-your majesty..we need to carry on with the festival here..can you take this matter som-" Peter port was quickly shut down by noctis. "N-No!, i'm gonna find out what the hell just happened here even if it takes the entire day to do so!, I'm the king here!!"

Emerald and Mercury looks towards one another a bit nervous if they get caught. "what happened it felt like mercury's attack just came out of no where, it's like my mind was playing tricks on me..i clearly saw him face first on the ground when i won and all of a sudden he got straight back up like it was nothing!" Yang explains to noctis and ignis dearly as she tries to stay calm.

"That's all we need to know...now as for you two." Ignis and Noctis turns towards both emerald and mercury. "Emerald Sustrai.." mercury looks towards her as she looks towards ignis. "y-yes that's me."

Dr.oobleck turns up the microphone so the entire arena can hear. "Your ability wouldn't have to be involving hallucinations is it?" Emerald begins to sweat nervously gripping her fist as she takes a slow nod.

"If that's the case, with what yang pleaded her side of what happened it seems to go mysteriously connected." Emerald shutters. "B-but..i-i was in the crowd..m-my semblance can-" Noctis tells her to calm down. "if that's the case..." noctis turns towards mercury. "if she really shot you in your leg, mind getting up?."

Mercury still in the grasps holding his leg, looking towards emerald then to everyone in the crowd. he let's out a nervous sigh. "we're busted..." mercury let's go of his leg and slowly stands up.

The entire crowd goes in shocked of the sudden change of events,along with ruby,weiss and blake looks in mixed of shocked and anger. "that jerk cheated!.." weiss stomps her foot to the ground.

Gladio walks out from one of the corridors to inside of the arena as the crowd begins throwing negative feedback towards both emerald and mercury. "The kid..."

"As i suspected." Ignis turns around towards noctis. "what should we do with them noctis?.." ignis questions him,noctis looks at the two huntress and huntsman in fear of what may happen. "Let them go.."

Emerald,Mercury,Yang and Ignis becomes shocked from noctis decision. "Noctis!..they tried to frame me!..and you're just gonna let them leave!" yang walks up beside noctis and clarifies to him.

"I know, but trust me..." noctis walks towards both emerald and mercury who were shocked of the decision. "Listen, i don't like what you two have done here, i hate to see a problem like this happen again...now." Noctis turns around to the crowns guard and signal them to take the two away.

noctis watches as both emerald and mercury are being taken away by the guards nervously wondering of what's gonna happen to them.

"Hold on..." the two guards stop as emerald and mercury becomes confused on the sudden stop, noctis confronts the two and whispers into they're ear. "take them to the room..i'll be there shortly." the guards nod as they continue on they're way as mercury and emerald watches on as they slowly lose sight of noctis and the others.

"....." noctis walks over to the ignis as the altesian knight droids leave. "Ignis send word to peter port and dr.oobleck up there that Cinder's team is disqualified and yang continues on with the tournament.

"Right.." Noctis,Yang and Ignis take they're leave as peter port comes on the mic. "Ladies and Gentleman, we will have a short break momentarily.."

Minutes Later

Yang was sitting in a room along with ruby,weiss and blake, as noctis,iris,prompto and gladio watches over them.

"Sorry you had to go through all that yang.." iris says in a sorry tone. "It's alright..i'm just glad noctis and ignis shown up, i'll be in a worst situation."

"Luckily we caught on of what's going on, me and ignis was discussing earlier about this ordeal, i'm glad iris bought up that catalog of hers." Noctis grins looking towards her.

"Nice one sis." Gladio compliments her sister. "thanks gladdy!"

"So what now?, hopefully the entire crowd will understand and plus a lot of people are watching this.." prompto worries on the situation at hand.

"I sent ignis to clarify the news to peter port and dr.oobleck hopefully they share this out to everyone, plus i'll go explain this to the others."

Ruby slowly thinks. "Professor Ozpin?" noctis nods. "yeah, same with glynda goodwitch and ironwood..something is up and we're gonna get to the become of this."

"Whatever you say noct" prompto yawns as he walks towards the door. "where are you going?" weiss asks curiously.

"i'm gonna find out when the next round is gonna happen...can't miss on the action hehe!" prompto says before exiting room leaving everyone sighing in disbelief.

Prompto cheerfully walks down the hallway as footsteps silently be heard behind him as a hand comes into frame with a flint of fire ignites in the palm of her hand.

"Let's see what happens if i take someone close to him, that king will pay for this.." cinder angrily held up her hand and shoots a fire ball towards prompto's direction as a feint yell could be heard in the distance....
